The 7in7 Challenge

The challenge – to run from Liverpool, the City where it all started, to Make-A-Wish UK’s HQ in Reading, Berkshire.

230 miles (370km).

That’s 7 ultra-marathons in 7 consecutive days, wearing a different wish related costume each day.

How on earth am I going to run 7 consecutive ultra-marathons?

Erm….no idea. Having only ever run 1 marathon this is going to be new and an experience, to say the least. The basic aim is to be running 10 – 12 mile stints, stopping to eat and rehydrate, and then off again.

Normally I’m strapping bags of kit to my bike, this time I’m carrying it all myself so if there was ever a time to watch the weight (being a weight weenie, apparently) it’s now!

There are, no matter what challenge, some key bits of kit I take so the list is always an easy start but as this is multi-day running there will be some subtle difference. Similarly, there is always something you haven’t thought of, so when I read fellow Active Root Ambassador Mel’s blog on her tips for running a 24hr solo race I struck gold…toilet paper….no one wants to be caught short.

If you’re interested, give the blog a read here – https://activeroot.co.uk/active-root-blog/top-tips-run-a-twenty-four-hour-race – well worth it!

Anyway, here’s what I’m planning to take with me;
