This is a journey
My name is Guy, I’m not an athlete or an adventurer, I’m just an ordinary man who believes that by challenging ourselves we can change the world – I got tired of talking about doing it and used a crossroads in my life to start being the change I wanted to see in the world.
As Miles for Wishes I’ve raised approximately £6,000 for Make-A-Wish UK by taking on some incredible challenges since taking up running and cycling in 2017. I’ve climbed the National Three Peaks solo, cycled from John O’Groats to Land’s End solo in 9 days, cycled the National Three Peaks in 3 days solo and I’ve run 7 ultra-marathons (from Liverpool to Reading) in 7 consecutive days. On the 24 May 2019 I set the record for the fastest solo cycle of the Welsh Three Peaks challenge.
Pushing my body and mind to its limit started as a form of punishment, a search for redemption from the hurt I caused myself and others. Punishment has, however, turned in to a passion and 2020 was due to be my first year testing myself in the world of ultra-distance racing. I’ve still got my eye on my long term goal of Race Across America, but it’s challenging times at the moment and we, as athletes, must adapt and set ourselves new challenges.
Miles for Wishes is a journey, a way to challenge myself, to change and be the best version of myself I can be and inspire others to do the same.
Let’s do something amazing together!
